Carlos Saura gets close to flamenco again. At present he is shooting "Iberia", a film - not a documentary - in which classical ballet, contemporary and Spanish dance, and flamenco hold hands. On this occasion, Saura adapts the "Iberia" suite by the Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz, which is considered his best composition.
Sara Baras, Antonio Canales , Manolo Sanlucar, Miguel Ángel Berna and José Antonio Ruiz are but a few of the artists who have cooperated with the film director on this project, as has the musician Roque Baños, who was responsible for adapting the music composed by Albéniz to make it more suitable for dancing.
Not all of the pieces that make up the "Iberia" suite will be included in the musical by Saura, but nonetheless the film will represent a tribute to Albéniz on the year of the first centenary since this famous suite was composed.
