The history of the Gallardo's shoes

  • The shoes are manufactured entirely by hand and "tailor-made" according to the needs of each customer, and are given the name of GALLARDO.
In the year 1951, a small company was founded dedicated to the manufacturing of dance shoes; it is located in the Oso’ Street, in the authentic quarter of Lavapies, Madrid.
The shoes are totally manufactured hand-made and “to measure”, according to the needs of each customer. The name given is: GALLARDO’S shoes.
Little by little, GALLARDO’S shoes are known all over the world of dance as the best shoes of flamenco, due to its quality, detail and sound; being ordered today, not only by well-known artists and most famous dance companies, but also by young artists and new companies.
So, as: BALLET NACIONAL DE DANZA, COMPAÑÍA ANDALUZA DE DANZA, COMPAÑÍA DE ANTONIO GADES, COMPAÑÍA DE CRISTINA HOYOS, COMPAÑÍA ROJAS Y RODRÍGUEZ, SARA BARAS, ANTONIO NAJARRO, MARÍA PAGÉS, ROCIO MOLINA, among others. And also, new young dancers, with a prosperous and promising future in the world of “flamenco dance”, and dance students.
Nowadays, GALLARDO’S fame and its quality are known internationally in countries, such as: Japan, USA, Australia and this fact made possible to increase progressively its market outside of Spain.
On July, 1997, the GALLARDO DANCE, S. L., was created with the compromise to maintain the know-how of “making a dance shoe having on mind the respect for the artisanal manufacturing, as it has been done in the past.”
It starts the beginning of a new company, always with the same basic aims, which inspired GALLARDO’S brand: TO MAINTAIN AND TO PROMOTE THE SPANISH CRAFTWORK, BY MAKING THE SHOE TOTALLY HAND-MADE AND PERSONALIZED.
Thus, from the beginning of GALLARDO DANCE, S.L., the GALLARDO’S shoe maintains his know-how of all its life and it is carried out by handicraftsmen and women; being present, nowadays, in the dance schools of  all over de world and in the most famous world theatres, and clothing the feet of the first figures in the art of flamenco dancing.
