Palos - Alegrias de Cadiz
It was a song to dance.
There are different theories about its origin, although it has been proved that 'la Jota Aragonesa' had influenced it due to the contact between Cádiz and Zaragoza especially because both cities resisted the French invador. That is why the theory of the 'Virgen del Pilar' and the Independencia war is commun in 'las Alegrías'.
Las Alegrías de Cádiz have a 'compás' of twelve steps, the one we denominate mixed or 'de amalgama'.
